malfi Pizza, Atlanta’s newest dining destination, recently opened offering an authentic Italian experience. Being a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria with fresh ingredients from the Campania region of Italy, I was very excited to try their menu. As I walk up to entrance, it felt like I had entered Italy, passing through a beautiful courtyard complete with lime trees and fresh herbs growing along the pathway.
As I climbed the stairway and entered the restaurant, I was taken aback by its beauty. Immediately my eyes focused on two huge pizza ovens. Imported from Italy, these 6000 pound wood-burning brick ovens bake pizzas in under a minute. Wow!
Originating in and the true pizza of Naples in the 1600s, Vera Pizza Napoletana is 12 inches or less in size, made from simple fresh quality ingredients from the Campania region of Italy and cooked at temperatures in excess of 900 degrees in approximately 60 seconds.
Led by Executive Chef Luis Vargas, Amalfi Pizza offers a wonderful selection of authentic Italian cuisine, including Neapolitan-style pizzas, pasta dishes, salads, and deserts. And they are simply fantastic! Take a look at what I noshed on during my recent visit.
And that they were! Next came the Verdura Pizza and their House Specialty, the Pizza Carnevale. Amazing! Let me tell about the Verdura Pizza first. This pizza was perfectly adorned with broccoli rabe, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, peppadew peppers, fresh basil, fior Di latte, and Pecorino Romano. So tasty!! The freshness of the vegetable were the stars of this pizza. I enjoyed every bite!
Next on the table was their house specialty, the Pizza Carnevale. This cheesy treat features pockets of house-made ricotta cheese stored in a specially formed crust. Not only is it delicious, it’s pretty cool to see being made.
At this point I was stuffed! Our waiter insisted that we end our fabulous meal with a Cannoli. Ahhh!! Why must you tempt me?!?! She went on to describe this dessert and I was sold. Bring it! With a freshly whipped cream filling this Cannoli definitely hit the spot. The perfect ending to a lovely Italian culinary experience.
*I received this meal complimentary. As always, all comments and opinions are that of my own. Thank you Amalfi Pizza for a lovely evening!
